Week 4: Bonding Rig to 3d Mesh

Session Review

Prior to today's academic session, I finally found a solution to successfully load and use the rapid rig tool for Maya. The solution was merely to "play the script " after I followed the methods of placing the tools script file and graphics into the appropriate folders within Maya (figure a).

Furthermore, as I returned to the classroom I learned in order to successfully set up a controllable character I need to make sure my model features a skeleton (joints) , and a set of controllers provided by rapid rig or an alternative tool (figure b) ...

However, despite eventually finding success in generating the rig. I continue to remain puzzled on the procedures on skinning the model in order for the rig controls to be bonded to the 3d model.

Furthermore,I am frustrated that other modules have consumed most of my academic time. I could use to an learn the complete process of setting up joints and then bonding it a 3d model. Consequently, I intend to practise this process with the gobbler character and later my own nomad character model in order for me to learn the complete process of creating a 3d character.
